Rules of engagement: necessity for success

Bringing different high qualified developers together does not yet guarantee a successful blended team. Essential parts need to be managed structurally, set in place and guided to perform at the levels E2E is used to. E2E developed these rules of engagement to effectively manage the development process within blended teams and reinforce the coordination and one-to-one communication.

The rules of engagement can be divided into three areas of attention: management, communication and team spirit.
  • Management of blended teams asks for regular work meetings, clear escalation procedures, performance assessments, planning and training of management on how to cope with cultural differences. Just like you use to work with non-blended teams and backed up by a Dutch liaison.
  • Communication within the blended team has to be facilitated by tools like Skype and Instant Messaging, training all developers on communication differences, reward pro-active communication and providing members with a team room for sharing relevant information.
  • Team Spirit must be created by having weekly team meetings, daily meet & greets to get a feeling how everyone is doing (through video calls), joint activities or even meet each other face-to-face.This will result in a low developer turnover and a strong development team which focuses on realizing your company’s goals.

E2E supports the rules of engagement with a Teamroom to make communication, working and acting as a team easier. This Teamroom includes an online project management tool, which facilitates sharing progress reports, discussions, up- and downloads and project activities.
